I’ve gone to Dr Leone and Dr Wenning for many years. He is an excellent dentist and communicator. If I could, I’d give 10 stars!
What Does the CEREC® Crowns Procedure Involve?
CEREC® is a computer-aided machine that enables us to make ceramic crowns so that you may leave our office after one visit with a permanent crown. The CEREC® crown, or protective cap, is a solid block of ceramic that can complement and even enhance the rest of your teeth.
This technology allows us to essentially take a picture of the targeted tooth, along with adjoining and nearby teeth. We can then design your new crown using innovative, cutting-edge software. Ceramic is a material most conducive to a design that matches your other teeth, whether existing teeth or partial dentures. The process also allows us to match the color and shape of your other teeth. Ceramic crowns are generally regarded as ideal for front teeth that are clearly displayed when you smile or open your mouth, because they so closely resemble real teeth.
CEREC® same-day crowns mean you won’t have to sit for messy impressions, temporary crowns and, of course, additional visits. Everything is done right on our premises with no need to send anything away to an outside dental lab. It also means that we can save as much of the natural tooth as possible, with a crown made of one of the most durable and wear-resistant materials used in dentistry.
How Long Do Dental Crowns Last?
Dental crowns are designed to be durable, long-lasting restorations, with most lasting between 10 and 15 years. However, many crowns can last even longer with proper care. The lifespan of a dental crown generally depends on several factors, including the material used, your oral hygiene habits, and daily wear and tear. Avoiding habits like teeth grinding, chewing ice, or using your teeth as tools can help extend the life of your crown.
Maintaining regular dental checkups and cleanings is also essential, as our team can monitor the condition of your crown and the underlying tooth. With good at-home care and professional maintenance, a high-quality dental crown can provide reliable function and a natural-looking smile for many years.
